Hillary waters fayle
I’m going back to look around; to find something new in the familiar landscape of all that’s come before.
Back and Around is a body of work which embraces the idea of circling back in order to retrace steps and pull together all that has been lost along the way; forgotten, and left untouched in the hurried pursuit of more urgent ideas. This is the second chance; the celebration and re-discovery of collected materials, ideas, techniques and motifs that have been waiting quietly to come forth.
Hillary earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in fiber/textile design from Buffalo State College, and her Master of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in Craft and Material Studies. She is an artist whose work combines organic, botanical objects with the rich traditions of needlecraft, binding nature and the human touch. Both tender and ruthless, this intricate stitch work communicates the idea that our relationship with the natural world is both tenuously fragile and infinitely complex. With sustainability and environmental stewardship at the heart of her work, Hillary's art as been exhibited nationally and internationally, and has been featured in various publications and online.
