Molly Anne Bishop and Joe Kraft are returning to Richmond for a pop-up event and trunk show featuring their newest ceramics, drawings, and other recent work. Their event begins during the RVA First Fridays Art Walk on August 4 and continues through the weekend. Molly and Joe are two of Quirk's favorite makers and humans. Come meet them and see what each of these amazing artists have been working on during a very busy and productive summer.
Molly Bishop is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University's Craft/Materials Studies program. She has recently completed residences at Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana, Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, and the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Greece. Molly has previously exhibited her work at Quirk Gallery. Some of her recent designs were featured by Anthropologie and Of A Kind.
Joe Kraft received his BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2012. Working in multiple disciplines, Joe begins "by drawing quickly and blindly then [responds] to those marks." Hi work combines intutive, abstract mark-making combined with a controlled infrastructure. "Rooted in the abstract, I draw from images and world around me while seeking out a color palette that excited and pushes me to draw."
While both artists are known for their work in ceramics, they've each been exploring 2D techniques and discliplines. Prints, paintings and drawings will be available for purchase along with pots and other ceramic pieces.
